How to Implement Pupil-led Interventions to Resolve School Bullying

This training session will support participants to develop a format to implement pupil-led strategies. I will teach participants how to learn about children’s experiences of bullying including what the key questions are to ask children; and how to design, implement and evaluate a pupil-led campaign based on children’s experiences of bullying – there will be guidance on what can be covered in each session. Participants will also be shown how to develop a mentoring programme of four sessions for children who persistently engage in bullying including details and examples of what can be included in each session.

Details will be provided of how participants can facilitate an advisory group of pupils and school staff to address the bullying in their school, and improve school practices to tackle bullying. The practical obstacles of implementing pupil-led anti-bullying strategies will also be discussed and strategies of how to overcome these will be presented. I will also explain how to develop a format to use diaries as an emotional outlet to help with their bullying. There will be guidance on how participants can train colleagues to implement these pupil-led approaches. In addition I will show participants on how they can provide detailed hourly sessions/lessons for staff and pupils on bullying (for example, what constitutes bullying and how to tackle it). All participants will be supported to develop their plan of action and strategy for dealing with bullying using pupil-led approaches to implement and develop after the session.
